S.O.S. Soup Kitchen

We provide a free meal to anyone in need, no questions asked. Simply drive-thru or walk-up Thursdays between 5:30 - 6:00 pm here at St. John UCC.

History of S.O.S.

  • St. John UCC formed a Soup Kitchen Coalition of 6 churches and 1 civic organization to serve nutritious meals on Thursdays.


  • S.O.S. became a program of the Collinsville Food Pantry (formally known as the Collinsville Area Ministerial Association) shortly after.


  • Our Mission Statement is: "To be the helping hands that provides the love of God to those who are hungry."


  • First meal was served on 6/7/2012 – 15 meals served by St. John UCC.


  • First United Presbyterian Church began hosting S.O.S. on Tuesdays 1/3/2017.


  • During the pandemic shut-down in 2020 & 2021, the Coalition provided lunches to the Collinsville Food Pantry for distribution. We served 8,803 sack lunches during that time.


  • We returned to serving S.O.S. after the pandemic shut-down in a drive-through/walk-up manner


  • The first year of S.O.S. we served 2, 735 meals.

  • On July 22, 2024 we surpassed 100,000 meals served since June 7, 2012! 


  • Presently the Soup Kitchen Coalition has 26 members including 15 churches and 11 civic organizations and businesses.


  • The average number of meals served per night is approximately 250 at both St. John UCC and FUPC.
